Andrew slipped out of the Leader's office quietly. His booming voice scared him and made him shiver. But he was his guard and did everything he said, his father would have wanted him too. After a freak accident, god knows what happened, his father died and his mother abandoned him. The closest person he had to family was the Leader. His name would never be exposed because he said it was dangerous. Even the guard would never know his name. He hadn't completely trusted him yet. Andrew wondered why though, why hadn't the Leader told him how his father died or why didn't he trust him to tell him his name? Andrew pondered this for a while, then realized the people in the cafeteria still wanted an answer for the lack of food.

He ran to the cafeteria and tapped the microphone. Heads began to turn his way.  "Ladies and gentleman I would like to announce that the reason there isn't as much food on your plate is because we are saving it so we have more in the future. That is all." He stepped away form the microphone as people started clamoring about the announcement. Many voices merged together as he walked away from the scene. The Leader's door opened and he stood at the balcony. He found Andrew's eyes and stared at him in disbelief and disappointment. Andrew had tried his best and had failed. The look on the Leader's face said that Andrew hadn't tried hard enough. He hung his head and walked up toward the Leader. "I'm sorry I said we were trying to-" The Leader grabbed his neck and pushed his up against the wall. "For an old man I can still do this." The Leader smirked. "Whatever you told them wasn't good enough and I hope your happy that you caused exactly what I didn't want you too." Andrew gasped for air, his eyesight slightly darkening.

I took Angel's hand and pushed through the condensing crowd. Once we were out, I saw the guard against the wall and the Leader choking him. I let go of Angel's hand and ran up the stairs. I could see the guards eyes slowly closing. I pushed the Leader out of the way and the guard hit the floor, passed out. The Leader fell to the floor as well and he looked at me with his mean eyes. The ones he had the day he met us. "What the hell is wrong with you boy!?" He screamed and ran at me with impressive speed, knocking me down. With his knees on either side of my body he pressed his thumbs into my neck. "The good thing is I can take care of you up here while they are down there." He laughed evilly and I struggled to get him off of me. "Angel..." I gasped and the Leaders face started to blur. "Your girlfriend isn't coming for you." He smiled and pressed harder. I gasped for air faster and whatever the Leader was saying I couldn't understand it. My thought fuzzed as well. I thought I saw Angel coming up behind him but I also saw my parents. I closed my eyes and sank into the silent abyss.

I felt relief, like there was no weight on my shoulders. I felt as if I was a feather drifting softly into the breeze. 'I'm dead' I thought at last. I wouldn't feel like this if I was still living in that underground city. My heart beat wouldn't be so calm if I was near Angel. my love, she was gone, forever. Until she died as well and maybe, possibly, we would meet again. Isn't that what should happened. You meet with your loved one when you die, family, friends, loves. As I drifted farther and farther down I realized Angel was too strong to die now. She was brave and strong and beautiful and had the will strong than anyone's. But so did I, so why did I have to die? Why did I have to sink farther down even though I had the same will? I wanted to live, to go back and be with my Angel.

I began to swim up, faster and faster. The surface looked miles away but I knew I could do it. No one was going to keep me away from my Angel, my love. I crashed into the surface and gasped for air. I couldn't see anything but I could feel a familiar touch, it was the blankets that were in my room in the city. I tugged at the thing in front of my eyes, it was a warm washcloth. I looked around and stood up too quickly, which ended in falling back onto the bed. I sat at the edge and took a breath. Everything was blurry for a moment, but soon I could tell it was Angel's and my room. I looked at the pot and it hit the floor. I jumped and called for Angel. "Angel?" I asked. "Angel?!" I yelled louder. I got up, testing my balance, then went out the door looking for her. "Angel? Where are you?" I yelled and ran, checking every room. I heard footsteps and spun around. Someone crashed into me and squeezed me tightly. Angel. I hugged her tightly back. Tears ran down my face like tiny waterfalls. I remembered the feeling, the emptiness I felt without her. I looked down the hallway for anyone that was coming and the light fixture broke. Angel didn't pay any mind. I ignored the weird events that had happened and cherished the time that was now. I felt my shirt wet and knew she was crying as well. I rubbed her back and felt bumps between her shoulder blades. My face twisted in confused. She let go and looked up at me. "What's wrong." She reached her back and found the bumps. "What the.." she started and then she jumped. The bumps had grown in 2 seconds. "What's going on?" I asked. "I don't know." She replied. She grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hallway toward the cafeteria. "Duck down." she said and we did. Between the banisters you could see people still fighting, some surrounded by crimson liquid on the floor, not moving. "Where's the Leader?" I whispered. "His office." she replied, equally quietly. We crawled on our hands and knees, closer to where the guard was beginning to wake and where I had died.
